Ok first let me apologize for a two day no blog...Our net out here kinda blows at times...However due to the absence of a great site here and the farkle game on facebook, I have managed to begin battling the "princess dress" so to recap the progress....And here we go....

After getting the pattern pieces cut and folded in a nice neat pile that I could work on when I had the time turned it to a "nope gotta do it now" type thing...Neice has been super stoked that she is getting her dress made that the first day she  got back from school asked when I was gunna work on it...So dug out the pattern instructions and read them over a cup of coffee and then read them a few more times since I was reading half gibberish..

I followed the instructions up until the first set back which was deciphering a portion of the pattern that thank god some of the wonderful people here on the sewing forums and a few SCA friends on facebook helped me figure out...(It was at this point that I decided to hell with it...I am gunna do it my version and as long as it comes out like the picture she will be happy).  Once I figured out the neck issue (what is pivoting and breaking stitch...in forums), I started again finally ending the night with the bodice sewn together and the sleeves attached....(I am totally digging on the sleeves). I had to stop for the night since my back was killing me from standing at the ironing board since its the makeshift table...

Day 2:

Hubby wakes me up when he gets home from work at 6am and I begin drinking coffee...I knew today was gunna be rough for I still had to back for our Kingdom's Rapier Academy this weekend that I am attending, do some chores around the house, and HAD to get some more work done on her dress for I knew she would want to see it when she got home...If I knew what this day would turn into I would not have woken up...

So its time to attach the front center and side with the back center and sides...5 large piece of fabric before gathering it...Now I do know what the heck happened at first but I somehow attached two panels the wrong way so had to rip the stitches and switch them around...Which I thought I did when I went to do the gathering and realized...Dang it I did it again...So had to rip stitches again rearrange the pieces and stitch again...You see where I am going with this....Yep happen 4 times!!! Needless to say not only did niece come home to progress on her dress but also 3 bucks worth of change in the piggy bank for all the cussing I was doing while ripping the stitches...

Time for a nap....Yeah right once a project is started I become obssessed until its finished, so after tossing and turning for 30 minutes, hubby kicks me outta the room so he can sleep, so I come back out and stare at the dress imagining it mocking me....

After a smoke I head back, rip all panels apart and start the step all over FINALLY getting it right...Now I add the gathers and sit down to gather the material where needed while watching TInkerbell 3...

And what do you know....2 more dollars goes into the bank cuz I begin cussing again as the gathering thread snaps and I loose a good portion of the gathered fabric...I attempt to try to stitch it again  2 more times and the thread keeps pulling out so I say to hell with it and move on to the next step in which I attach the skirt to the bodice...

I attach it and sew it before realizing that dang it I attached it to the lining and it was suppose to be attached to the outer bodice...Yep more seam ripping and restitching...as well as more ripping and stitching on skirt as I find flaws in the original stitch...

I finally get that constructed and partially attached the zipper...Yes was vetoed with the lacing....they (non SCA) wanted the zipper...But now waiting while I figure out which foot is the zipper foot and then hopefully can get the most of this done so can work on finished the seams while at the even since I am now hoping this dress will be done by Monday...
